八点多我们就来到了慕田峪，我们坐上开放式缆车，凉风习习，蓝天悠悠，一路上美景美不胜收，渐渐地，长城出现在我们的眼前，犹如一条巨大的卧龙盘旋在连绵不断的山上，在碧蓝的天空下、郁郁葱葱的山脊上，显得如此雄伟壮观，让我们惊叹不已。

慕田峪长城多建在外侧陡峭的崖边，依山就势，以险制厄。墙体高七八米，墙顶宽四五米，建筑材料以花岗条石为主，雄伟坚固。慕田峪长城，墙顶上两边都建有矮墙垛口，可两面拒敌，外侧还挖掘有挡马坑，使防御功能更加完善，这是一大特点。慕田峪长城墙顶的双侧都筑有长约5尺、厚1尺多、高2尺有余的垛口。慕田峪长城的关门两侧是沿山脊升起的，随山势翻转。在这些地段的垛口不是开口的长方形，而是呈锯齿状。射洞筑在垛口的下方，它不是圆形孔，而是顶部呈弧状的方形孔。险要之处还修有炮台。慕田峪长城上还建有“支城”。所谓“支城”，就是在长城内外侧有高脊山梁的地方，再节外生枝地顺山梁修出一段长城来，长度几米到几十米不等，并在此筑有敌楼，当地人称为“刀把楼”。

明代在重修慕田峪长城时，在墙顶的两侧都加修了垛口，还同时新设置了滚木石雷石孔，可攻可守。而修筑“刀把楼”，可控制制高点，减少对主城的威胁。慕田峪长城从正关台左侧起，随山势翻转，奔向远方。

长城由山腰直伸山顶，在山顶立一敌楼后，又突然下降，翻身向下返回山腰，又骤然升起，直到海拔940多米的地方，绕了一个大弯，其形状酷似牛犄角，苍劲雄浑，人们把它称之为“牛犄角边”。长城从“牛犄角边”继续往前延伸，经过一个名叫“箭扣”的地方，这里是已达海拔1044米的山峰，两侧陡峭如削。在修筑长城时，必须从山头的外侧断崖绝壁上通过，又不能把这个制高点留在外面，使用砖石、木材显然都不行。

于是聪明的能工巧匠们，用了两根大铁梁担在断崖之上，上面再垒砌砖石，这种方法在整个长城修建史上极为罕见。在慕田峪长城东侧，长城本来是顺山势伸向东北。可是到一敌楼处突然分出约1000多米的地段，另辟蹊径摆向东南方向，山势尽处，突然终止，在尽头处修了一个甚是坚固雄伟的敌楼。这段千余米的长城被人们称之为“秃尾巴边”。这样长城在此处就形成了三道长城汇于一楼，“三面极目观巨龙”的景观。在慕田峪长城“牛犄角边”的两侧，有一段长城被称为称为“箭扣”及“鹰飞倒仰”。墙体全部建在岩石裸露的悬崖峭壁上，长城的坡度大都在50度左右，其中有一节接近90度，几近垂直，台阶仅有几尺宽，非勇敢者不敢涉足。

长城是世界上最伟大的建筑之一，是中华民族的象征，是每一位来北京的游客都想去的地方。今年暑假，我有幸游览了位于怀柔区，历史悠久，文化灿烂的慕田峪长城。

我们早早地坐巴士来到景区门口，没想到从景区门口到长城检票口还有大约3公里的上行路线，需乘坐摆渡车。一开始，我以为摆渡车就跟长江上的渡轮一样。到了车站，才知道摆渡车其实就是一辆普通的公共汽车。

下了摆渡车，人们顺着蜿蜒曲折的登山步道向上爬。因为妹妹年龄小，我们坐了缆车。缆车缓缓上升，周围的一切都渐渐呈现在我的面前。我忍不住向窗外望去：满目青翠，我们简直就是身处于“天然氧吧”中，呼吸着天地间最清新的空气，欣赏着大自然给予我们的秀丽景色。当我看到长城时，我的.心情久久不能平静，真正的长城远比我想象中的还要雄伟壮观！它像一条巨龙盘旋在连绵不断的山上，在碧蓝的天空下、郁郁葱葱的山脊上，不断延伸、仿佛要征服每一座高山，牢牢地守护着脚下的每一寸土地。

暑假里的一天，我和妈妈一起去了北京的长城。

等啊等，终于从热闹喧哗的市中心，来到了山间平坦的公路上。我们的车沿着那条盘山路，像蜗牛似的慢慢爬行。大山像披了一件蓑衣，满眼翠绿。盘山路是山腰上的玉带，它的头上是各色植被，仿佛戴了一顶五彩帽。整座山像一位男子向着远方眺望，又像一位诗人在沉思。

下了车，我一眼就辨认出长城宏伟的身影：长达3147米，最高点888米，我们站在它脚下，就像蚂蚁站在鲸鱼旁边。我们向北长城爬去，长城上人山人海，有各种垃圾（真希望下次来时，垃圾不会再有），人们像潮水一样向前涌。真是长江后浪推前浪。

爬到第五段，台阶变成了将近90°的坡，令人两腿发颤。我爬上去向下一看，全身都打了个寒噤，仿佛一不小心就会滑下去。

来到第六段，坡几乎变成垂直的天梯，我心里直打退堂鼓，可是一想到不到长城非好汉，我心里就又充满了力量，我要当好汉！红军长征二万五千里都毫不退缩，区区一个长城还能难倒我？于是我一鼓作气、手脚并用，爬到了最高点第八烽。站在最高点，心里一股自豪感油然而生。俯视大地，发现祖国的江山如此多娇！

相传，以前，在我们这里食物非常多，而游牧民族那儿一点食物也没有，这可怎么办呢？他们就到我们这里来抢食物，为了不让他们来抢我们的食物，我们就建起了万里长城，来保卫我们的家园和亲人。

慕田峪长城很陡，一格一格的台阶都是60至90度的角，抬头往上望，感觉头非常晕，当我费了九牛二虎之力爬上去的时候，一阵风向我迎而扑来，凉风习习，顿时感到心旷神怡。
